Club members Dick & Mark Appleton take one of only 3 gold medals and win their class on Le Jog Lands End to John O’ Groats rally. There were about 70 starters who followed a 1300mile route, driving for 60hrs over a period of 75hrs. Said to be the toughest historic road rally in Europe, Dick & Mark had a great run in their 1965 Cooper S on Dick’s first attempt at the event through rain, sun, ice and snow. Mark said afterwards that Dick was probably the oldest ever winner of a gold medal on the event.
