On 31st May 2026 Salisbury & Shaftesbury Car Club ran its first AutoSOLO. The venue was the paddock of Thruxton Circuit, a place used for AutoSOLO by a number of clubs to the east of us.
The event was of Clubmans status , although the club has ambitions for Interclub and championship status in the future. S&SCC looks forward to the second Zipper AutoSOLO next year.
Clerk of the Course, Chris Damper, originally set four fast and challenging courses, but runs on six courses were actually achieved, much to the delight of competitors. The weather was perfect as well, albeit windy as befits any airfield location.
Spirited driving was the order of the day. Particularly noticeable were Dimitris Vaxevanakis in his MINI saving rubber by waving a wheel at every opportunity, Mathias Hansen in his Toyota MR2 Roadster who laid down as much rubber as Dimitris saved, and the colourful Volvo V40 of Mike Legg. It was nice to see the lovely Morgan of Peter Norris.
Fastest Time of the Day was achieved by Mathias Hansen in his Toyota MR2.
S&SCC thanks all entrants, Thruxton Circuit, and all the marshals.
