The highly experienced team from Salisbury and Shaftesbury Car Club and Devizes and District Motor Clubs have been working hard over the summer to plan both a challenging and enjoyable route for the revived Palladwr Rally to take place on the weekend of 15th/16th March next year.
They have secured a great new venue as the event base, the Crossways Hotel in North Wootton near Shepton Mallet in Somerset, who will be offering a 10% discount on the normal room rate for the rally.
The route will be covered by OS maps 182 and 183 and will total around 185 miles. This will include 15 miles of gravel and concrete tests and around 120 miles of regularities, and will involve three visits to the famous Worthy farm, site of the Glastonbury Festival.
The event will be split into four legs:
- Leg 1 – Saturday late afternoon and during daylight, around 25miles lasting approximately 1¼ hours.
- Leg 2 – Saturday evening in the dark, lasting just under 2 hours.
- Leg 3 – Sunday morning will be 2½ hours, followed by a short rest halt.
- Leg 4 – Sunday late morning. Action resumes for a further 2¾ hours with the first car finishing at about 14:10.
An evening meal will be provided after Leg 2 and a Sunday carvery lunch after the finish at the Crossways hotel,
Following prize giving and a hearty lunch, everyone should be able to set off for home during daylight hours. Regulations will be available and entries will open early in the New Year. The event will be part of the HRCR Clubmans Historic Road Rally championship and open to members of clubs in the ASWMC.
